Rafting on Kundalika River
rafting
Kundalika is a beautiful river originating in the Western Ghats of Maharashtra and ending into the Arabian Sea near the creek at Roha. The river flows through thick forests and rice fields of a region of what was earlier the princely state of Bhor.It is the only river in Maharashtra on which white water rafting is possible. This river has two hydro electric power stations at Bhira and Ravalje. Rafting is done on the let off of these hydroelectric projects. The rafting experience is very nice with 13 km stretch with nice grade III and grade IV rapids.Trained instructors and proper safety equipment make this a safe and fun activity.

Hot water spring at Uddhar
waterspring hot
The Unhere hot water springs located in the near Pali taluka Shudhagad of Raigad District in Maharashtra State, India. Just 1 km before the Pali Ganesh temple is a hot water spring. It is at the village of Unhere and also seems to be called 'Uddhar'. The Unhere springs contaings chlorine & saline water & gives out plenty of Carbon dioxide & traces of Hydrogen Sulphide. The water temperature is between 40 to 60 degree Celsius. The water is known to possess medicinal value in curing skin diseases, allergies and rheumatic complaints Found this interesting tree in the vicinity of the Kund.
undiscovered Thanala Rock Cut Caves
thanle caves
These caves are some of the most ancient rock-cut temples not only in Maharashtra but in whole India and were located at complex site of the trade route, where the path goes through complicated mountain pass. Here have been found punch-marked silver coins from the times of Emperor Ashoka (268 - 227 BC). Thus it is possible that they were created in the 3rd century BC, although it is possible also that they were built somewhat later.

Historic battlefield of Umbarkhind
umarkhind
Visit to the Historic Battlefield of Umbarkhind (18.714545,73.326187) Shivaji ( 1627 -1680) Chattrapati Shivaji was the legendary founder of the Maratha Kingdom. In his lifetime, his main adversaries were the Bijapur Kindgom ( Adil Shah) and the Mughal Empire ( Aurangazeb). Shivaji ‘s kingdom was primarily carved out of Bijapuri territory and he severely debilitated its power during his eventful career. Maratha Empire The kingdom founded by Shivaji went on to become the Maratha Empire. Under the Peshwas, this empire totally destroyed the Mughals and at its peak in 1760 controlled over 70% of modern day India. The British had to defeat the Maratha Empire in the 3rd Anglo Maratha war (1818) to establish their supremacy over India. Shaista Khans’s Deccan Campaign In the year 1660 Shaista Khan was sent to the Deccan by Aurangazeb to overrun Shivaji’s Territory. He came with a huge army of over 100000 and easily overran the Pune area and the northern parts of Konkan. At this time Shivaji was besieged in Panhala Fort by the Bijapuri General Siddhee Jouhar and could do little to stop Shaista Khan. Shivaji escaped from Panahala to Vishalgad in a daring move and later on reached Rajgadh. Here he was keenly watching the motions of Shaista Khans army. However he was sandwiched by the Mughals to the north and the Bijapuri’s to the South. Shaista Khan dispatched the Uzbeg General Kartalab Khan from Pune with an army of around 20000 to make inroads into Konkan. This led to the battle of Umbarkhind. For Trekking Details Visit blog
